What services does Oppsal Bilservice offer?
We carry out car servicing, EU inspection (PKK), repairs, diagnostics and fault-finding, auto electrics, ECU programming and work on electric and hybrid cars. We help with most car makes.
Do you service and repair all car makes?
We are a brand-independent workshop and work on most car makes and models. The work is adapted to your car and the manufacturer's specifications. Give us your registration number when you contact us, and we will check what applies to your car.
How do I request a workshop appointment?
Send a request via the website, call 22 08 85 00 or email service@oppsalbil.no. Please include the registration number, mileage and what the car needs help with. A member of staff confirms the time, price and scope.
Can I get a price estimate before the work starts?
Yes. We give a price or a price estimate whenever the work can be assessed. If the car needs to be examined first, we agree on diagnostics before any further repair. You will know what the next step is before the work continues.
Will you contact me before additional work is carried out?
Yes. If we find that more work is needed, we contact you with our findings, a recommendation and a price before we continue. It is therefore important that you are reachable while the car is at the workshop.
Do you carry out the EU inspection (PKK)?
Yes. We carry out the EU inspection (PKK), also known as the periodic roadworthiness test, on vehicles with a permitted total weight of up to 3,500 kg. See EU inspection at Ensjø for a checklist and information about re-inspection.
Can servicing and the EU inspection be done at the same time?
Yes, the two services can often be combined. Mention both needs when you send your request, so we can set aside the right amount of time and clarify the expected scope.
Do you service electric and hybrid cars?
Yes. We carry out servicing, diagnostics and a range of repairs on electric and hybrid cars. The scope is adapted to the car's service programme and systems. Read more about electric and hybrid cars.
Can you investigate warning lights and electrical faults?
Yes. We use diagnostic equipment and electrical measurements to find the cause of warning lights, intermittent faults and other problems in the car's electrical systems. If a red warning light comes on, stop safely and contact us before driving on.
Is reading fault codes the same as a complete diagnosis?
Not always. A fault code points to a system or a deviation, but mechanical checks and electrical measurements may be needed to find the actual cause. Diagnostics is therefore priced by scope and time spent.
Do I keep the new-car warranty if I use an independent workshop?
Servicing at an officially approved independent workshop should not in itself void the new-car warranty, as long as the manufacturer's programme, intervals, specifications and documentation requirements are followed. Warranty repairs and recalls may still have to be carried out by the brand's own workshop.
Can I drop off the car outside opening hours?
Yes. The key drop by the entrance lets you hand in the car free of charge around the clock. Collection outside opening hours is agreed separately with the workshop, and you will be told when the car and any key code are ready.
Can you help with a rental car?
Yes. If needed, we can help you find a rental car through external rental companies. Availability, price and rental terms are agreed with the rental company, so let us know when you request your workshop appointment.
Where is Oppsal Bilservice located?
You will find us at Gladengveien 16, 0661 Oslo, at Ensjø. The Gladengveien bus stop and Hasle metro station are within walking distance. Check Ruter or Entur for real-time departures and service changes.
When is the workshop open?
The workshop is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00. The key drop can be used around the clock.
What is checked during the EU inspection (PKK)?
The EU inspection checks whether the car meets basic road-safety and environmental requirements. Items include the brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, steering, seat belts, visibility and emissions. Read more about the EU inspection at Ensjø.
How long does the EU inspection take?
The EU inspection itself usually takes around 45–60 minutes. At Oppsal Bilservice, inspections are normally carried out in the morning, so the car should be dropped off early or the evening before using the key drop.
What do defect codes 1, 2 and 3 mean after the EU inspection?
Code 1 is a minor defect that must be corrected but normally does not require re-inspection. Code 2 means the car has not passed and requires re-inspection. Code 3 is a dangerous defect and results in an immediate prohibition on use.
How often should a car be serviced?
Follow the manufacturer's service programme, which normally specifies time, mileage or both. As a general guide, we recommend around 15,000 km for frequent city driving and up to 30,000 km for long-distance driving, but the car's service plan always takes priority.
Does an electric car need servicing?
Yes. An electric car has fewer moving engine parts, but the brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension, climate system and 12-volt battery still require inspection and maintenance. Read more about electric-car servicing.
Why does the car battery keep going flat?
Possible causes include a weak battery, a charging-system fault or a component drawing current while the car is parked. We can check the battery and charging system and perform a parasitic-drain test to identify the cause.
What is the difference between a wheel change and fitting tyres to rims?
A wheel change replaces complete wheels consisting of tyres and rims. When fitting tyres to rims, the tyre is removed from the rim and replaced with another tyre. See our tyre and wheel services.
How can I tell that the car needs a four-wheel alignment check?
Common signs include the car pulling to one side, an off-centre steering wheel, uneven tyre wear or unstable steering. A four-wheel alignment check measures the wheel angles and shows whether adjustment is needed.
How do I check the deadline for the EU inspection?
Search for the registration number on the Norwegian Public Roads Administration website to find the car's inspection deadline. You are responsible for having the car inspected and approved by the deadline.
How much does the EU inspection cost at Oppsal Bilservice?
The EU inspection for a passenger car costs NOK 1,390 including VAT at Oppsal Bilservice. Re-inspection is priced separately. See prices and booking information.
Does Oppsal Bilservice offer drop-in EU inspections?
EU inspections are normally scheduled in the morning, so book an appointment in advance. The car can be dropped off early or the evening before using the free key drop.
Do you carry out the EU inspection on Tesla cars?
Yes. We carry out the EU inspection on electric cars, including Tesla, provided the vehicle is within the workshop's approval of up to 3,500 kg. Bring the charging cable supplied with the car.
How much does car servicing cost in Oslo?
The price depends on the model, age, mileage and the manufacturer's service requirements. Send the registration number and mileage to Oppsal Bilservice for a specific service estimate.
Is Oppsal Bilservice open on Saturdays?
No. The workshop's normal opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00. The key drop can be used around the clock for an agreed drop-off.
How often does an electric car need servicing?
The interval varies by make and model. Follow the car's service plan or service reminder; we can check what applies when you provide the registration number and mileage.
What does a warning light with an exclamation mark mean?
An exclamation mark can refer to different systems, including the brakes, tyre pressure or a general fault. Check the colour and symbol in the owner's manual. For a red warning, stop safely and contact a workshop before driving on.
Can you clear fault codes on the car?
Fault codes can be cleared with diagnostic equipment, but they should not simply be reset without investigating the cause. We read the codes, assess relevant measurements and explain what should be done before the fault memory is cleared. Read more about diagnostics and fault-finding.
Do you offer drop-in wheel changes?
Book or confirm a time in advance, especially during the seasonal rush. Call 22 08 85 00 or send a request with the car and wheel size, and we will confirm availability.
