What is an EU inspection?

The EU inspection is a statutory check of the vehicle's road safety and environmental requirements. Most passenger cars must pass the inspection within 4 years of first registration, and thereafter every 2 years at the latest. Always check your car's specific deadline with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen).

Fault codes 1, 2 and 3

Code 1 is a minor fault or defect; the car can be approved without a re-inspection. Code 2 or 3 means the car has not passed and must have a re-inspection. Code 3 means the car is banned from use.

Checklist for the EU inspection – electric and hybrid cars

Important about drop-off: EU inspections are carried out in the morning – after lunch we do repairs. Drop the car off early, ideally the evening before via the key drop, so it is included in the morning round.

Get these ready before you drop the car off, and the inspection will go faster.

When during the day should I drop the car off?

We run EU inspections in the morning and repairs after lunch. Drop the car off early, preferably the evening before via the key drop, so it is included in the morning round.

How often must the car have an EU inspection?

Most passenger cars must pass the inspection within 4 years of first registration, and thereafter every 2 years at the latest. Always check your car's specific deadline with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen).

What happens if the car does not pass?

Yes. We inspect all car makes, including electric and hybrid cars. Remember the charging cable that comes with the car (16 amp), not the fast charger.
